The purpose of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois is simple: we keep families close to each other and the care they need, when they need it most.
Through the Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City and our Family Rooms in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, we help remove the barriers that separate families while they receive out-of-town treatment for a critically ill or injured child. We’re more than just a place to stay—our House and Family Rooms provide the essential comforts of home: warm beds, hot showers, home-cooked meals, kitchen and laundry facilities, a playground, recreation areas, and more.
Founded in 1985, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois (RMHC-EIWI) creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. RMHC-EIWI provides care and comfort to children and their families by supporting the 31-room “home away from home” Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City. Additional programs include a Ronald McDonald Family Room at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, a Ronald McDonald Family Room and Ronald McDonald Food Pantry at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital. RMHC-EIWI also supports not-for-profit children’s programs and students making a difference in eastern Iowa and western Illinois through its grants and scholarships program.
